Dear Michael:

Thank you for your letter of April 13, explaining the Hyatt’s position with respect to the UNITE HERE boycott. I understand that the Hyatt Regency Cambridge does not itself have a dispute with UNITE HERE. However, I disagree with your characterization of the union’s demands as unreasonable.

I am writing to inform you that although it is too late for us to move our May conference to another facility, Third Sector New England has endorsed the UNITE HERE national boycott. We will refrain from arranging future conferences or events or otherwise patronizing the Hyatt and other boycotted hotels until the dispute is resolved. I encourage you to press your colleagues within Hyatt and the hotel industry to move quickly to negotiate a fair and equitable settlement which takes into account the needs of 18,000 union hotel workers and their families.
