The Executive Transitions Program (ETP) of Third Sector New England helps your nonprofit prosper as it faces one of its most crucial challenges: a change in leadership.
Beginning in the next few years, the region’s CEOs and executive directors are expected to leave their positions in unprecedented numbers – many through retirement.
A change in leadership can be an opportunity to grow and prosper. Or it can be disruptive and damaging if not managed thoughtfully.
Third Sector New England established ETP in 2004 to provide sensitive and comprehensive one-on-one counseling, evaluation, facilitation, executive search, interim executive director placement and planning services to nonprofits throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The program guides organizations before, during and after changes in their executive leadership.
Today, Third Sector New England’s Executive Transitions Program sends more than two dozen transition consultants and interim executive directors across the three-state region to work hand-in-hand with nonprofit agencies of all sizes and missions.

ETP Advisory Board
In 2002, more than a dozen funders from Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island gathered to confront the impending leadership crisis. Their recommendation led to Third Sector New England adopting the program two years later. The Executive Transitions Program continues to be mentored by a 10-person committee of foundation experts.
ETP Staff
