Description
CCI holds a focus on the importance of understanding, recognizing and working to change elements of systemic and institutional racism. We provide frameworks and exercises which place the existence of prejudice and bias in the context of structures of dominance and oppression – to create environments where the under-empowered and underrepresented are given voice and opportunities to contribute. We define racism as having more to do with historically embedded white power and privilege than as attitudes or actions against a particular “race.” Our anti-racism work is not solely about African Americans but rather loosening the knots which entangle all races.
Philosophy
We believe lasting change is achieved through understanding and recognizing elements of systemic and institutional racism and thus working to change those patterns and practices. We strive to move beyond the development of interpersonal goodwill and respectful behavior to learning how to identify opportunities to create environments where the under-empowered and underrepresented can be given their voice. Our work overall is about eliminating oppression including dynamics of class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age and gender. We prefer to work in partnership with our clients to design the best activities for their particular need. Typically, we provide needs assessments, retreat facilitation, coaching, technical assistance for diversity initiatives and workshops.

Description
We specialize in community and work place inclusion and organizational change. Our clients include educational institutions, foundations, the public sector and nonprofit agencies. Our goals promote social justice as we strengthen respectful and effective service delivery to diverse constituents. We challenge the dehumanizing impact of social “isms” as we work to foster substantive and sustained communication regarding issues of diversity and inclusion.
Philosophy
Our associates share several critical assumptions about society and the process of organizational change. We assume: 1) building an authentic, productive and self-sustaining community or organizational culture and affirming diversity can be complementary processes; 2) ownership of the process is essential, among members of the client organizations we serve; and 3) racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism and other systemic forms of oppression interact with organizational and personal relationships. Our approach to service delivery values, draws out and builds upon the experience and perspectives of our clients.

Description
The Family Center’s diversity training and consultation program offers diverse consultants and trainers committed to providing effective, systemically focused services that help create healthier and more effective environments. Through the use of experiential exercises, simulations and videos our consultants strive to create a safe environment where participants can begin to respectfully explore and expand their knowledge and sensitivity to issues of diversity. By utilizing a variety of teaching modalities, we have found that lessons experienced by individuals and groups are more likely to be retained and adapted to the workplace than theory or directives delivered in lectures.
Philosophy
The Family Center’s diversity consultation services emphasizes an understanding of the different cultural and ethnic backgrounds which instruct people’s different perspectives and world views. We design, facilitate and assign consulting and training teams based on the individual needs of the organizations that we work with. Our training designs are based on an experimental learning model. Experiential training techniques enable our facilitators to accelerate both individual and group developmental processes. Participants are given an opportunity to learn from their experiences by connecting interactive activities and simulations provided during their training to their own individual and group experiences, histories and world views. We avoid using activities that encourage blaming and shaming amongst group members.

Description
My expertise is executive search. Besides commitment to diversity, I know how to identify candidates of color and candidates from underrepresented groups, who have successful leadership experience and whose style and philosophy fit a particular organization. Organizations which are diverse, as well as those which are not, have hired these candidates because I understood the organizations and the match was right. Other services are searches for Board members and teaching/assisting agencies in hiring and Board workshops.
Philosophy
Finding the right people for any position is complicated but with wisdom, experience and “know how”, it can be done well. Assuring that candidates are diverse is extra work and requires a clear strategy, which I use successfully.

Our expertise is in diversity assessments, strategic planning, implementation of action plans, team-building and training. Philosophy
IBIS consultants bring a passion to diversity work, drawing on our commitment to justice and our understanding of organizational dynamics. We hold the philosophy that greater diversity will result in significant benefits to an organization – to its productivity, creativity and teamwork. We use a model of diversity which is inclusive and multidimensional (i.e., class, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, parental status, physical ability, etc.). We also focus on the multiple systems of advantage and disadvantage, which may be invisible to some, but are embedded in attitudes, cultures and institutions. Our goals include enhancing awareness and improving interpersonal skills. In addition we assist organizations to address their organizational culture and the formal and informal systems that may be barriers to inclusion.

Description
Lach Training & Consulting helps organizations develop the human capacity and organizational systems they need to fulfill their missions. Services focus on creating effective environment, healthy organizational cultures and committed workforces.
Philosophy
I like to use Tina Rasmussen’s definition of diversity to reflect my own philosophy: “The mosaic of people who bring a variety of backgrounds, styles, perspectives, values and beliefs as assets to the groups and organizations with which they interact.” This definition equally values and respects all the above individual characteristics and sees them as assets. This is not just a romantic notion, even though respect for diversity could be a goal in itself, but research has supported the fact that teams that have differences in perspectives and know how to work together are more successful than homogenous teams. As a trainer and consultant, I see diversity work a little different than other soft skills topics. Often times I get request to “train the staff on diversity skills,” in particular in my area of expertise, intercultural communication. I see diversity work in a much deeper way. People need to explore their own values and beliefs and be exposed to new information in order to change behavior. My role is to facilitate that change.

Description
Ann Moritz has specialized in cultural diversity for nearly 20 years. Her background in human resources, training, newspaper editing and management developed primarily from three major daily newspapers, most extensively at the Boston Globe. She works to develop creative solutions and programs for organizations. She makes unusual strides in developing her clients’ philosophy regarding diversity and their ability to improve and sustain it. She works to eliminate “isms,” most frequently racism, sexism and classism. Since 1981 she has assumed leadership roles in a corporate management capacity, since 1988 privately as a management consultant.
Philosophy
My consulting is based on a philosophy that a thriving society results from a sense of community and common humanity and honest recognition and ethical use of power and privilege. This is possible only with a valuing of our own cultural heritage and a genuine respect for and interest in different cultures. Most organizations are daunted by the need to be culturally diverse and are at a loss to find sustainable methods to meet such needs or to recognize systems of privilege that get in the way. My work is tailor-made with each client to advance organizational needs that develop thinking, motivations and past diversity efforts. The result is a product that the client can own and build upon. My role is a catalyst with work geared to appropriate and measurable outcomes that become a client’s long-term investment.

Verná Myers consults to public and private organizations about how to create diverse and inclusive workplaces. She focuses on diversity and inclusion as core values of any organization interested in enhancing its ability to achieve its core purpose. Ms. Myers specializes in motivating organizations to embrace diversity; designing and implementing comprehensive diversity initiatives; facilitating anti-bias trainings; and helping organizations develop strategies to increase the recruitment and retention of staff of color.
Philosophy
As a diversity consultant, it is my role to help people and organizations act on their best instincts – to encourage them and teach them how to realize their core values of fairness and excellence as they pursue their core purpose, the purpose for which they exist. It is my experience that organizations retain diversity consultants because they want to be more diverse and inclusive, but are either at a lost about how to accomplish this goal or believe that the goal is counter to other “more important” business-related objectives. My job is to show an organization how diversity and inclusion are intrinsic to any successful organization’s value system and are assets rather than hindrances to its purpose. The second step is to work with people and organizations to make sure their commitment to these values are demonstrated in the organization’s culture, policies and practices.

Philosophy
I approach diversity by looking at how individuals within an organization can empower themselves to practice diversity both on and off the job. It becomes a way of life and a means to teach necessary skills to manage differences and similarities within the framework of human interaction. I also include historical perspectives to help people to understand why diversity has always been a part of the American experience.

I do realize, however that the value of diversity is often misunderstood or underappreciated and that the goal of diversity is often less than adequately achieved. My approach to diversity as a consultant is to emphasize the value, richness, flexibility and opportunity that diversity brings to an organization.

Description
Most organizations know the “shoulds, oughts and musts” of dealing with blatant bigotry. However, persons within organizations often don’t have well-developed repertoire of skills and strategies for handling tensions and dynamics in settings where there is diversity by first language, racial identity, sexual orientation, physical ability, religious practice etc. We offer organizational assessment, strategic planning and training moving beyond the “illusions of inclusion.” Differences aren’t the problem; how people frame and respond to the “difference” often is. Our premise: We can all learn additional ways to respect and affirm the diversity in organizations and communities. We look afresh at old issues and new possibilities.
Philosophy
We see our role as helping people take a step back from their taken-for-granted assumptions about the difference that difference makes. We work to expand the repertoire of skills and interventions that each and all participants possess that are anti-racist, anti-oppressive and empowering. All of our workshops are participatory in format. We prefer to work in teams. However, each of us also works solo in particular situations where appropriate.

Description
Our consulting is grounded in WTC’s 20 year history of learning to share leadership and ownership across differences of class, race, religion, sexuality, nationality and personality. Though diversity can act as a barrier, we approach it as an invaluable resource for fulfilling an organization’s mission. We work with the organization to design a process that tends to all levels of relationship in the organization (personal, interpersonal, institutional and cultural) and creates environments where creative transformation is possible.
Philosophy
Our work as consultants is to help organizations and groups develop, engage and support the transformational leadership of its individuals and the collective. Transformational Leadership includes those aspects of leadership that are concerned with the values and purpose that motivate action and change and that promote the mission of the organization. Working with diversity – or learning to value and work across difference – is essential to an organization’s capacity to fulfill its mission. We work in partnership with the formal leadership of the organization to support it in nourishing and encouraging this transformational leadership at all levels of the organization.
