Project Eligibility Criteria

The director of TSNE's Fiscal Sponsorship Program (r) meeting with a client

With 50 years of experience acting as a fiscal sponsor, TSNE has found that the following criteria are vital for a productive fiscal sponsorship relationship.

Therefore, TSNE looks for the following in potential projects:

Mission Compatibility: A mission that is consistent with Third Sector New England’s mission and vision

Program Experience: Staff or volunteers with relevant program experience, in order to provide the project with the expertise needed to help it effectively pursue its mission

Leadership: Board and/or staff members that understand and accept the terms of the fiscal sponsorship relationship, in letter and spirit

Sustainability: A minimum of $150,000 in annual funding in hand or pledged or a viable fund-raising plan that would allow the organization to reach that level of funding within a few years

Governance and Community Support: A minimum of 3 people who believe in the organization enough to serve on its advisory board or steering committee

Staffing: At least one staff person (full- or part-time) to serve as a liaison to TSNE's Fiscal Sponsorship Program

A Commitment to Partnership: The willingness to remain in the TSNE Fiscal Sponsorship Program for at least 2 years, barring any unforeseen or extraordinary circumstances, due to the high costs of bringing on new projects and transitioning them out of the program

Only those organizations located within the New England or New York City areas are eligible to take part in TSNE’s Fiscal Sponsorship Program.
