Project Eligibility Criteria

The director of TSNE's Fiscal Sponsorship Program (r) meeting with a client

With 50 years of experience acting as a fiscal sponsor and a mission focused on social justice, TSNE has found that the following criteria are vital for a productive fiscal sponsorship relationship.

Core Constituents: TSNE fiscally sponsors charitable initiatives that advocate for and create systemic change affecting the root causes of social problems. Our core constituents also seek to provide wider access to resources and services for people systematically denied fair access. Issues these groups work on and support include civil and other basic human rights, environmental sustainability, food security and access to health care, housing and education.

Program Experience: Staff or volunteers with relevant program experience, in order to provide the project with the expertise needed to help it effectively pursue its mission. TSNE does not incubate new programs or sponsor people who are at the "idea" stage

Leadership: An advisory board and an assigned part- or full-time paid staff project liaison who understands and accepts the terms of the fiscal sponsorship relationship in letter and in spirit. We also request that there be a minimum of 3 people from the community who believe in the organization enough to serve on its advisory board and assign one of its members to review financial statements monthly.

Sustainability: Able to present programmatic strategies, staffing and financial requirements associated with implementation and identified or in-hand sources of funding to support those strategies for at least 12 months.

A Commitment to Partnership: The willingness to remain in the TSNE Fiscal Sponsorship Program for at least one year, barring any unforeseen or extraordinary circumstances, due to the high costs of bringing on new projects and transitioning them out of the program.

If you meet the above criteria and are interested in learning more about becoming a fiscally-sponsored project of Third Sector New England, please email us at info@tsne.org.
