Grassroots Initiative RFP

Third Sector New England is excited to announce a unique opportunity for four nonprofit organizations in the Boston area to be a part of a capacity building initiative. TSNE’s Consulting Program is undertaking this work as part of our ongoing commitment to support smaller social change organizations with limited budgets. This project is underwritten by TSNE.

TSNE consulting services will offer four organizations:

  • An organizational assessment - A participatory process by which the organization develops a shared understanding of its current position, and key stakeholders develop recommendations with specific action steps to strengthen the organization.
  • 32.5 hours of work with a consultant - We will offer 32.5 hours of direct technical assistance to each organization to implement two to three priorities based on the results of the organizational assessment.
  • Trainings - We will conduct two trainings based on the needs identified by the four participating organizations.
  • Peer learning sessions - TSNE will facilitate six peer learning sessions. This co-learning opportunity will enable individuals to draw upon the skills, experience and knowledge of their colleagues in order to build a body of shared understanding and perspective that forwards the learning of the whole group. The agenda will emerge from the four participating organizations.

Organizations must participate in all components as described.

Each organization must contribute $1,000 as a matching contribution.

All work will take place February to July 2008.

Who should apply?

  • Grassroots, community-based, constituent-driven organizations in the City of Boston and Chelsea (We reserve the right to choose organizations based on geographic proximity to enhance organizational learning.)
  • Organizations with a social change mission
  • Organizations with an annual budget of $500,000 or less
  • Organizations with at least one staff person

Current TSNE Fiscal Sponsorship clients, Diversity Initiative grantees and Capacity Building Fund grantees are not eligible.
