Ten Tips to Improve Your Job Search Results

Anyone active in a job search today is engaged in a highly competitive venture. Unfortunately, some candidates - even the most experienced and talented - fall prey to pitfalls that diminish their chances for success.

Patricia Duarte, transition consultant with TSNE’s Executive Transitions Program, shares her top tips for job seekers.

Yoga for the Workplace

As summer ends and the office gets back into full swing, the deadlines seem to pile on. Taking a few minutes out of your workday to breathe can really help you remain calm amidst the storm.

Learn more about how yoga and wellness programs can combat burnout and stress, and celebrate September as National Yoga Month.

What Is Comprehensive Fiscal Sponsorship?

Comprehensive fiscal sponsors run the essential back office operations of their projects in a highly competent, cost-effective manner, allowing agents of change to focus their passions and energies on activities central to project purposes.

This new white paper covers everything from advisory boards to ongoing compliance.

Help Reduce Recidivism

Educational, vocational and rehabilitation programs in prisons—already the subject of previous budget cuts—continue to be targeted in state cost-saving initiatives, despite the fact that study after study has shown that education and skills are a primary driver of reduced rates of recidivism.

Initiatives such as the Prison Book Program exist to help bridge the gap between formal programs offered by some prisons and the still unmet educational needs. From September 15 through October 3, drop off your used books at the NonProfit Center and support the Prison Book Program and the City Mission Society.

Grant Programs Update

The 2009 Capacity Building Fund Implementation Grants have been awarded, with projects ranging from cross-community immigrant organizing to housing organizations addressing senior hoarding.

The Diversity & Inclusion Initiative will be announcing details for the 2010 grant cycle in the next week. To be the first to hear about changes in the program and when the application process opens, sign up for the Grant Announcements e-List.

Consultants Corner

As a taste of his upcoming monthly column, TSNE’s new organizational development consultant explains what OD is, and how it can help organizations.

Software Corner

Idealware asks what you should look for to ensure that a software package will comply with the HIPAA standards.

Green Tip

We often think that online activity is completely green. But according to a July 13, 2009, article on CNN.com, 20 milligrams of carbon emissions are generated for every two words your constituents read on your nonprofit’s website. Given that stunning fact, we suggest some tips to help you green your website users’ experience.

Happenings and Opportunities in the Nonprofit Sector

TSNE is pleased to announce upcoming activities and events from across the sector, as well as new resources available for nonprofit professionals.

This month we’ve included information on employment opportunities, as well as workshops and trainings.
