Building Better Boards

December 8, 2009
9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

This workshop is now full.

Workshop Presenter: Abbie von Schlegell, Principal, a. von schlegell & co

Workshop Description: What do you do to make sure that you have the right people on your nonprofit board of directors? How can you weed out the wrong ones, the ones who make lots of promises but never fulfill them? How can we keep them focused on our mission and purpose instead of talking about the price of our next fundraising event? Why are our boards even more important now, in this economy?

And what can we do to wake them up? Get them charged about our organization and the wonderful things we are doing in the community, in the region, in the world?

Come to learn and share experiences of steps and actions to reawaken your board: who to recruit, who to thank for their service and how to balance it all in today’s world!

Presenter Bio: Abbie J. von Schlegell has been in the development field for over 35 years, as a consultant for about half of her career with several national firms, and as a senior development officer with four institutions.
