Creating a Culture of Supervision

In the non-profit sector we shy away from hierarchical terminology – words like supervisor and boss make us cringe. Yet we expect our managers to act like bosses – to hire, orient and train staff. They need to set goals, monitor performance and address personnel issues.

  • Explore the value of supervision
  • Identify elements of effective supervision
  • Plan specific steps to take in establishing expectations for supervisors

Target audience: Human resources staff, executive directors and others responsible for establishing and maintaining organizational culture
