Create New Workplace Traditions This Holiday

December presents a wonderful opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the religous and cultural traditions practiced by your co-workers during the holiday season. Explore how your nonprofit can best maximize this learning opportunity, enjoy the holidays together and foster an appreciation for the diversity that helps the nonprofit sector thrive.

Look at Your Organization's Financial Indicators

Meave O'Marah, who led September's Capacity Building Training Series workshop on nonprofit finance, shares some tips and advice on using key financial indicators as essential management tools.

Stay Focused and Positive

Maintaining employee morale in the nonprofit sector has never meant providing high-priced perks and exorbitant bonuses. But providing thanks for a job well done and recognition for the commitment and enthusiasm that nonprofit professionals bring to their work is critical, and doesn't need to drain resources.

Consider some of these simple ways to help your staff stay focused and positive.

New HR Services from TSNE

The way personnel committees and executive directors manage the organization's most precious resource - the people who make up the staff - during these difficult economic times can make the difference in how healthy and sustainable your nonprofit will be when we emerge on the other side.

TSNE can help with our expanded human resources services, geared to the needs of small to mid-sized organizations, offering coaching and consulting services, and onsite training.

Consultants Corner

TSNE Senior Consultant Bob Greene shares advice on encouraging strong and productive teams during times of stress.

State of the Sector 2010

Please join Associated Grant Makers, The Boston Foundation, the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network, Third Sector New England, and United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley as we welcome 2010 with a State of the Sector briefing on Tuesday, January 12, 1:30 - 4:00 p.m.

The event is free and open to funders as well as nonprofits, but space is limited, so please register in advance

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Robert K. Triest, vice president and economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, who will provide an overview of the economy and what indicators the Federal Reserve sees in terms of signs of recovery and ongoing challenge. The presentation will be followed by a panel of nonprofit and foundation leaders who will reflect on his remarks and offer their insights into the nonprofit sector and 2010.
