Nonprofit Capacity-Building Fellowship
Location: Boston, Mass.
Third Sector New England (TSNE) provides management and leadership resources to help nonprofits support healthy, just communities. The Consulting and Executive Transitions Program provides capacity-building consulting services, focusing on executive and organizational transitions, succession planning, coaching for leadership and teams, and general consulting.
This three-month paid fellowship (June-August 2014) is an amazing opportunity to shadow nonprofit organizational development consultants in the field, gain first-hand knowledge of the internal management of a nonprofit capacity-building firm, delve deeply into the theoretical underpinnings of capacity-building consulting, understand how nonprofit organizational assessments are conducted, and learn about evaluation processes for nonprofit capacity-building efforts.
The overarching goal of this program is to develop emerging leadership in the nonprofit field and provide a unique learning experience that mixes on-the-ground consulting work with in-depth research and learning. Each fellow will be paired with multiple consultants, in order to shadow and support them during consulting engagements. The cohort of fellows will convene regularly as a group to share their insights, and will engage in biweekly group learning sessions on a variety of relevant topics. The capstone project will involve acting as a lead consultant in an organizational assessment consulting project for one of TSNE’s fiscally sponsored projects.
This fellowship will be customized to fit both personal learning goals and TSNE’s organizational goals. However, some potential projects could include:
