Intern with Consulting & Executive Transitions Program

Organization Description

Third Sector New England (TSNE) provides management and leadership resources to help nonprofits support healthy, just communities. The Consulting and Executive Transitions Program provides capacity-building consulting services, focusing on executive and organizational transitions, succession planning, coaching for leadership and teams, and general consulting.

Position Summary

This is an amazing opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the internal management of a nonprofit consulting practice, shadow consultants in the field, delve deeply into the theoretical underpinnings of organizational transition consulting, learn how nonprofit organizational assessments are conducted, and learn about process evaluation for nonprofit capacity building efforts.

There are multiple unpaid positions available, for both the spring semester and the summer. This internship will be customized to fit your personal learning goals. However, some potential projects could include:

  • Shadowing consultants in the field, taking notes at meetings and drafting reports for clients
  • Evaluating internal systems and processes, providing recommendations for improvement
  • Analyzing evaluation data and developing reports
  • Researching organizational transitions and developing materials for use by consultants
  • Researching and evaluating businesses used by TSNE for strategic contracting decisions
  • Independent projects codeveloped by the Intern and TSNE staff

The intern can expect:

  • An insightful orientation into the organization

  • A work plan that the intern codevelops over the first two weeks
  • High-level involvement in complex activities/planning

TSNE will expect:

  • Understanding and abiding by TSNE values
  • Timeliness, accuracy and quality regarding deliverables
  • The ability to multitask
  • Capacity to work independently within the framework and parameters provided by the work plan

This is an unpaid internship.
