An Open Letter to Our Friends and Colleagues
As many of you know, a few months ago, Third Sector New England abruptly lost an important stream of royalty income for an indefinite period through no fault of our own. As a result, we needed to – and did – act quickly to bring our budget back into balance. In early October, TSNE laid off 13 staff (30% of our workforce). We also halted our two grantmaking programs and made other changes designed to generate new revenues, improve efficiency and reduce costs. I am proud of my colleagues – past and present – and the TSNE board for the calm, professional and altogether exemplary way in which they responded to this completely unexpected crisis. I am happy to report that TSNE is alive and well and operating on all cylinders. We continue to be a leading provider of fiscal sponsorship, executive and organizational transition services, coaching and management consulting to the non-profit community in New England and beyond. Our Better Nonprofit Management Training Series and our unique supervisory training workshops remain very popular – in fact we’ve added more workshops for early 2012. The NonProfit Center is a vibrant, thriving community of over 40 social change organizations. And we are actively seeking new resources which we hope will enable us to continue our grantmaking in support of diversity and inclusion. I want to thank our many friends who have reached out to us in person, in writing and electronically. We are grateful and humbled by your support. A very happy holiday season to all! – Jonathan |
