Corporate Partnership Research Intern

Third Sector New England (TSNE) provides management and leadership resources to help nonprofits support healthy, just communities.

Position Summary

We are exploring the concept of developing corporate partnerships as a means of facilitating deep and significant social change. After an initial meeting with experts in the field, clear research questions have surfaced. This intern will be responsible for working with Senior Leadership Team members and program staff to identify local corporate philanthropy and community engagement programs and activities.

The person in this role will help identify whether any of our fiscally sponsored projects or other programs are already engaged in corporate partnerships and will document those activities. In addition, they will help identify and map connections between TSNE board members and other key stake holders and contacts within target corporations.

Internship Learning Goals

  • Knowledge and understanding of a variety of nonprofit/corporate partnership options
  • Practical online and in-person research skills 
  • Experience managing an independent, professional project

Essential Job Functions

  • Research and identify local corporations engaged in community partnerships
  • Document corporate philanthropic priorities and grantees
  • Document other corporate community partnership activities and priorities
  • Review board members bios and identify possible corporate relationships; do the same with other key stake holders as directed
  • Review fiscal sponsorship project funding sources and identify connections with corporations engaged in key community partnership activities
  • Potentially conduct interviews with members of corporate community partnerships and document learnings
  • Help develop a proposal for the initiation of partnerships between TSNE and one or more corporations

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend TSNE monthly staff meeting for additional learning
  • Complete other tasks as assigned

The intern can expect:

  • A detailed two week orientation 
  • Weekly individual supervision
  • A workplan that he or she co-develops after the first two weeks
  • High level involvement in complex activities/planning

  • Timeliness, accuracy and quality regarding deliverables
  • The ability to multi-task
  • Capacity to work independently within the framework and parameters provided by the workplan
