Giving feedback is one of the skills that any effective supervisor needs to learn. For those whose responsibilities include supervising the work of others, the ability to give insightful and detailed feedback is a key requirement of the role. However, when feedback is too focused on the issue at hand, it can fail to address the causes and improve future performance. That is where our “Feedback for Learning” approach to supervision comes in.
This video presents the characteristics of effective feedback that clearly communicates the issues at hand and provides opportunities for the supervisee to self-direct their improvement and learning. “Feedback for Learning” emphasizes a two-way style of communication that is ultimately more effective in creating lasting change in behavior.
