Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging for Consultants Program

There is a significant demand for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) strategy across the nonprofit sector. In addition to this, there’s a need for the community, connection, resources, and skills for consultants to incorporate an effective DEIB lens into their work. This is why the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging for Consultants Program was developed.

This virtual cohort-based program, focused on racial equity, is designed for nonprofit consultants who are particularly interested in honing their skills and confidence in integrating a racial equity lens into their work with clients. The DEIB for Consultants Program and related curriculum were jointly developed and piloted by TSNE and the Institute for Nonprofit Practice.

Over the course of eight virtual sessions, participants will gain insights into the evolving field of DEIB practice, engage with key frameworks, and apply lessons to their own practice, all within a learning community of peers.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BUILDING YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF AND INTEGRATING A RACIAL EQUITY LENS INTO YOUR WORK? IF SO, ARE YOU:

  • A practicing consultant with four or more years of experience?
  • Enthusiastic about deepening the work of your nonprofit clients to create more inclusive and equitable organizational cultures?
  • Excited to learn with and from peers in a cohort-based experience?
  • Curious and willing to explore your practice and personal background?
  • Looking to engage in difficult conversations with peers and prepared to learn through self-reflection?
  • Eager to learn more about systems of oppression and the impact of structural inequities specific to race and ethnicity?

Then this program is for you. Whether your client work focuses on fundraising, financial management, event planning, marketing, or organizational development, this program will help hone your practice. Along with a consideration for race, gender identity and sexual orientation, we aim to select a cohort that is also diverse in functional expertise and experience. Our goal is to help you build your skill, confidence, and knowledge base for the rest of your career.

You Will Discuss Ky Concepts in DEIB:

  • the role of the consultant in advancing DEIB practices and behaviors with their clients
  • power and privilege
  • othering and belonging
  • antiracism
  • implicit bias

Participants will engage in facilitated peer coaching to surface and problem-solve around situations present in each consultant’s practice using our highly regarded case method model and the principles of appreciative inquiry.

In addition to the sessions, participants will receive a robust set of readings and activities to incorporate into their practice.

Meet the DEIB for Consultants Program Alumni

Monique Morimoto“The program provided the space for stimulating, insightful dialogue and discussions on a topic that often feels too big to know where and how to approach it. With our masterful, heart-full facilitators, this cohort of consultants from diverse backgrounds, races, cultures and geography, co-created a rich learning environment that helped me integrate a DEIB lens both personally and professionally
